About the editor
Dr. Federico Soria is the Head of the Experimental Surgery Department at the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital and at the IRYCIS-Ramón y Cajal Institute for Health Research (Madrid, Spain), working as a Translational Researcher and expert in Minimally Invasive Urological Surgery.
He has been for 25 years the Coordinator of the Endoscopy-Endourology Unit of the Jesus Usón Minimally Invasive Centre (Cáceres, Spain), teaching more than 50 national and European Hands-on Endourology Workshops.
Dr. Soria has led more than 15 preclinical research projects as principal investigator in the area of Urinary Biomaterials and new ureteral stent designs. He is mainly interested in the development of biodegradable ureteral stents and chemotherapy-eluting ureteral stents. He has a high impact in the scientific literature regarding ureteral stents, with more than 100 research papers in indexed peer-reviewed journals.
He has been the Chairman from 2017 to 2022 of that ENIUS-"European Network of multidisciplinary research to improve the urinary stents" (European Cooperation in Science & Technology).
He has recently edited a book focused entirely on Urinary Stents and he has also developed two patents on new ureteral stent designs. His academic appointments includes: Member of the Board of International Urolithiasis Society, Editorial Board member BMC Urology (Endourology), Review Editor-Endourology in Frontiers in Urology
